Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov met UN Secretary General

The main subject of the meeting was Armenian-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Garabagh conflict. E. Mamedyarov has informed the UN Secretary General about the latest situation in the negotiations on the conflict settlement and in detail brought Azerbaijanâ€™s position in this issue to Ban Ki-moonâ€™s notice.

The minister noted that the Nagorno Garabagh conflict can be solved only within the norms and principles of the international law and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

In turn, Ban Ki-moon expressed his hope for the soonest solution of the conflict and stressed that conflict solution would positively impact on whole region.

The Secretary General of the United Nations touched upon the positive results of the New York international donorsâ€™ conference targeted to long-term aid to help Haiti recover from the recent devastating earthquake. Ban Ki-moon especially noted Azerbaijanâ€™s boost rendered in this issue.
