Ukrainian diplomat: “Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Ukraine will reach $1.5 billion by the yearend”

He said export from Ukraine to Azerbaijan made up $546 million, export from Azerbaijan to Ukraine made up $282 million. The diplomat said compared with 2008 the indicator of 2009 reduced a little.

Dmitry Bojok added quoting Ukraine’s statistical department that trade turnover between the two countries made up $156.4 million in January of the current year, up by several times compared with January of 2009. The diplomat said it was connected with the transportation of Azerbaijan’s raw oil to Kremenchuk oil refinery.
“If it goes on this tempo, the trade turnover will reach $1.5 billion by the yearend,” he said.
The diplomat said the record result between the two countries was achieved in 2008 and made up $1 billion.

Head of the embassy’s economic-commercial department Miroslav Blashuk mentioned that the trade turnover between the two countries made up $59.4 million in 2000.
“We are satisfied with the Ukrainian enterprises in Azerbaijan and activity of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic in Ukraine,” he said.

Answering APA’s question about the activity of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic in Ukraine, Blashuk said SOCAR opened its office in Kiev in 2009.
“Ukrainian market is open for SOCAR, talks are being held on construction of joint oil refinery, the company is expected to buy tens of filling stations in Odessa,” he said.

Answering question about GUAM’s future Dmitry Bojok mentioned the statement made by Viktor Yanukovich as a presidential candidate.
“Yanukovich said he would discuss this issue with President Ilham Aliyev,” he said.

Asked who will be new head of the intergovernmental commission from Ukrainian side, Dmitry Bojok said parity should be taken into consideration.
“First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov is chairing the commission from Azerbaijani side. The embassy offered Ukrainian Foreign Ministry to appoint First Deputy Prime Minister Andrey Klyuyev from the Ukrainian side,” he said.
