The presidents said the friendship and peaceful neighborhood between Azerbaijan and Russia might serve as an example to other states. Dmitry Medvedev said the unveiling of the monument to Heydar Aliyev in Ulyanovsk was a symbol of friendship between the two countries and added that the relations in the post-Soviet space should be established on this basis.
â€œIf all states had had relations like Azerbaijan-Russia relations, there would have been no problem in the world,â€ Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.
The presidents of the two countries participated in the opening ceremony of the unique bridge across the Volga River. They also laid wreath before the monument erected in the park named after Heydar Aliyev.
