Baku. Lachin Sultanova – APA. Ago Monitoring Group of the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers has arrived in Azerbaijan today. APA reports the aim of the visit is to assess Azerbaijan’s fulfilling the commitments vis-à -vis the Council of Europe.
Members of the Ago Group are expected to meet with President Ilham Aliyev, Speaker of the Parliament Ogtay Asadov, leadership of Justice Ministry, Foreign Ministry, Interior Ministry, Supreme Court, Central Election Commission, leading opposition parties, nongovernmental organizations, media outlets.
The Group members also plan to meet with the ambassadors of the Council of Europe member states to Azerbaijan.
Note that the Ago Monitoring Group’s visit to the region has begun since November 20. CoE Ago Monitoring Group is led by Stelian Stoyan, permanent representative of Romania in the Council of Europe.
