Washington. Isabel Levine â€“ APA. â€œAzerbaijan can benefit from pursuing strong relations with both Russia and the USâ€, - told APAâ€™s Washington correspondent Mark Loucas, analyst at the Fund for Peace in Washington DC.
Speaking about the recent meeting between US and Russian presidents, analyst mentioned that the US administration wants to improve relations with Russia on issues of mutual concern, but not at the cost of such countries as Azerbaijan, Georgia.
â€œWashington and Moscow are looking forward to lesson tensions in the region with respect to countries in the former Soviet Unionâ€ â€“analyst believes.
Regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh negotiation, Luocas stressed that; international mediation can be useful in demilitarizing the frontier and creating an opportunity for political negotiations.
â€œFrozen conflicts currently represent a major challenge for the international mediation. Unfortunately, this kind of conflicts includes actors without the political will to seek a peaceful solutionâ€ â€“ he added.
According to analyst, â€œpeople to people diplomacyâ€ is often a good track to pursue.
