The Nobels and Baku Oil exhibition opened at London-based Asia House Gallery

London â€“ APA. Opening ceremony of The Nobels and Baku Oil exhibition was held at the Asia House Gallery in London, press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan told APA. Representatives of the embassies, business people, journalists and art lovers attended the opening ceremony. The photo documentary, art and digital exhibition dedicated to the 15th year of the contract of the century and the 130th anniversary of the Nobel Brothers’ activity in Azerbaijan and organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Azerbaijan, StatoilHydro Absheron and the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic. In his welcoming speech, Azerbaijani ambassador to UK Fakhraddin Gurbanov appreciated it as a remarkable event and spoke about the history of development of Azerbaijanâ€™s oil industry and the Nobelsâ€™ role in it. He also spoke about current situation of oil industry in Azerbaijan and emphasized the significance of exhibition in demonstration of achievements.

Chief of museum sector of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Azada Huseynova informed the participants about the goal of exhibition and spoke about the improvement of museum work and extension of international cooperation in this field. The first opening of this exhibition was held in Baku and it was decided to hold it in other European cities following London.

SOCAR representative in London Rufat Efendiyev, Statoil representative Baiba Anda Rubesa, representative of Victoria and Albert Museum Beth McKillop also emphasized the significance of such exhibition in London and said it would have unique role in providing the international community with information about the history of development of oil industry of Azerbaijan. The exhibition will last until November 14.
