As the APA’s representative reports from the exhibition, Alireza Hosseini Beheshti, who headed an opposition committee looking into alleged abuse of protesters detained after Iran’s disputed June election, was applauded by supporters who chanted "Death to dictator!", "Down with Russia!" and "Long Live Musavi!".
He is the son of Ayatollah Mohammad Hosseini Beheshti, who was head of Iran’s Supreme Court for about a year after the 1979 Islamic Revolution and killed in a 1981 bombing.
Then, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s supporters chanted slogans against Musavi, accusing him of causing confrontation and rift among the Iranian people. The parties exchanged slogans and accusations.
After commotion and the demolition of several exhibition pavilions, security forces took Beheshti out of the show hall. There were no injured around there.
On Sep. 23, former presidential candidate Mehdi Karoubi’s arrival at the exhibition also caused a stir and Ahmadinejad’s supporters attempted to attack him.
