Delegations hold meeting in Bern with participation of Presidents of Azerbaijan and Switzerland

Baku â€“ APA. Following the official welcoming ceremony in Bern, the delegations had a meeting with participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and President of Switzerland Hans-Rudolf Merz, Presidentâ€™s press service told APA. Hans-Rudolf Merz said the two countries have intensive relations both on the presidential level and on other levels. He said inter-parliamentary groups serve the deepening of the relations.
Touching on the importance of Azerbaijani Culture Days in Switzerland Hans-Rudolf Merz said such events bring the nations closer. President of Switzerland noted that economic relations are developing rapidly and said energy cooperation is extending, projects are being implemented in non-energy sector. Hans-Rudolf Merz also touched on the importance of the cooperation in alternative energy and said the trade turnover between the countries increased.

Azerbaijanâ€™s President Ilham Aliyev said his official visit to Switzerland served the expansion of the relations. Ilham Aliyev said economic cooperation between the two countries is developing rapidly, there is broad potential in this sphere and underlined strong political relations. The head of state said energy cooperation is improving, there are good opportunities in non-energy sector and these opportunities should be improved.

Ilham Aliyev underlined the importance of Azerbaijani Culture Days in Switzerland. The head of state also noted the significance of continuing the political discussions on bilateral and regional issues. They exchanged views on bilateral relations, regional cooperation and international issues.
