Solemn opening ceremony of Azerbaijani Culture Days held in Switzerland

Presidentâ€™s press service told APA that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, his spouse, President of Switzerland Hans-Rudolf Merz and his spouse participated in the ceremony.

Prior to the ceremony, the participants were given information about our country, it was noted that Azerbaijan has ancient history, beautiful nature, rich culture, the country, which is situated at the juncture of the West and East, comprises national and modern traditions.
It was also noted that Azerbaijan is the motherland of world-famous mugham, the first opera composed on Leyli and Majnun by outstanding poet of the East Mahammad Fuzuli.

President of Switzerland Hans-Rudolf Merz said there are similarities between our countries. Azerbaijan and Switzerland are alike in culture, geographical position and stable political situation. Azerbaijan and Switzerland have established good cooperation and special attention in these relations is paid to the culture. President of Switzerland said Azerbaijani Culture Days in Bern is a good indicator of this cooperation.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the hospitality. The head of state said the first official visit of Azerbaijani President to Switzerland is successful.
â€œWe are deepening our relations in many spheres,â€ President said and underlined the importance of the mutual visits.
â€œWe see each other as real partners and the bilateral projects will bring us much closer. Culture is the best way to know each other closer. Azerbaijan has ancient history, rich culture, high national values and we are preserving them. Azerbaijan is one of the leading countries in the world for its economic growth,â€ he said.
Ilham Aliyev expressed his confidence that Azerbaijani Culture Days in Switzerland will bring our countries much closer.

Following this, famous Azerbaijani musicians performed musical compositions. The audience took interest in the songs comprising the West and East.

After the concert, reception was given on the occasion of the opening of Azerbaijani Culture Days. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, his spouse, President of Switzerland Hans-Rudolf Merz and his spouse participated in the reception.
