Azerbaijani President receives representatives of 6th Conference of Culture Ministers of Organization of Islamic Conference

Baku â€“ APA. President Ilham Aliyev received the representatives of the 6th Conference of Culture Ministers of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) held in Baku within the framework of â€œBaku â€“ Capital of Islamic Culture - 2009â€, APA reports. Ilham Aliyev regarded the Baku conference, the discussed issues and adopted decisions as great event in strengthening the relations among the countries and Islamic solidarity.

The head of state noted that such events are also important in strengthening the international positions of the member countries. President appreciated the support of OIC member states for Azerbaijan in the international organizations and underlined the role of the Islamic countries in the adoption of the decision defending Azerbaijanâ€™s right position in the UN General Assembly.

Giving information about Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict, the head of state noted that Armenia ignores the four resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council on the unconditional withdrawal from the occupied Azerbaijani territories.

Ilham Aliyev reiterated that the conflict can be solved only within the framework of Azerbaijanâ€™s territorial integrity and added that only in this case peace and stability can be maintained in the region.

Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri said Azerbaijani people should be proud of their culture. He underlined the role of President Ilham Aliyev and President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva in the establishment and development of the cross-cultural dialogue. Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri said they will do their best for the fair solution to Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

Speaking of various events on Islamic culture organized in Azerbaijan, President Ilham Aliyev mentioned international Ibn Arabi symposium recently held in Baku.

The head of state expressed his confidence that the decision passed at the 6th Conference of Culture Ministers of Organization of Islamic Conference will contribute to strengthening Islamic unity.
