Chisinau summit of heads of CIS states ends

The agenda of the summit included 16 issues. Draft resolution on joint initiatives for eliminating the consequences of the world financial crisis in 2009-2010 was also discussed. The draft was recommended to the meeting of CIS Heads of Governments Council. The draft resolution recommends governments of CIS member states to take measures for liberalization of trade, refrain from taking measures to prevent goods from entering the internal markets of CIS member states.

The following documents were discussed:

-Message of CIS heads of states to the peoples of CIS countries and international community on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War;

-Decision on declaration of 2010 as the Year of Great Patriotic War Veterans in CIS;

-Decision on veteran organizations of CIS member states;

-Decision on measures for strengthening border security within the framework of the Concept on coordinated border policy of CIS member states;

-Agreement on establishing Council of CIS member statesâ€™ bodies controlling illicit turnover of drugs, psychotropic agents and precursors;

-Decision on common provisions on the cooperation of related bodies of CIS member states;

Moldova will hand over the CIS chairmanship to Russia in 2010. Russian President invited heads of CIS states to the informal meeting to be held within the framework of the events on the 65th anniversary of Great Patriotic War in May. The next summit of heads of CIS states will be held in Moscow in December. Commenting on the summit CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev said it was constructive.
