Six more projects signed within the framework of Grant Assistance Program of Japanese Government

Six more projects were signed within the framework of Japanese Government’s “Grassroots and Human Security” Grant Assistance Program and Culture Grant Assistance Program on Friday. Three of them cover construction of medical centers, two – water supply and another one – the sport complex support, APA reports. Masamitsu Oki, Japanese Ambassador to Azerbaijan said 126 projects were carried out in Azerbaijan within this program. “Azerbaijan is rapidly developing. There are some people, who can’t benefit by this development. We aim to assist the improvement of their daily welfare”.

Deputy Minister of Sport and Youth Ismayil Ismayilov said great attention was paid to the development of sport in Azerbaijan. 20 sport complexes were built in the regions and some of them are still under the construction. He thanked the Japanese government for its support to the sport facilities in Azerbaijan. Department chief of the Azersu JSC Ilgar Tagiyev said that large water supply projects are carried out in Azerbaijan with the support of Azerbaijani government and international financial institutions. He also thanked the Japanese government for its support to the health projects. The projects signed today amounted 556 268 USD. The Grassroots and Human Security Grant Assistance Program has been carried out in Azerbaijan since 2000 and it realized 120 projects in Azerbaijan with total cost 8 529 585 USD.
