Foreign ministers of co-chair countries to attend signing of Turkish-Armenian protocols

He said Clinton made major efforts for the normalization of relations between the two countries. â€œShe regularly carried on a correspondence and held phone conversations with the partiesâ€.

Gordon said Turkey and Armenian would sign a protocol for the establishment of diplomatic relations and this decision was not made easily and oppositions of both countries were protesting this document. â€œBoth sides understand that the normalization of the relations and opening the borders are within their interests. Both sides have an intention to move forward after long years of tensions and economic isolation of Armenia. We appreciate it as a historic opportunityâ€.

CNN Turk quoted the US State Department official as saying that Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov, French foreign minister Bernard Kouchner and EU High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana will also attend the signing ceremony.
