Baku. Victoria Dementyeva – APA. The monument erected in Sevastopol to the Azerbaijanis who were killed while liberating Crimea from fascists will be restored fully, Ukraine’s ambassador to Azerbaijan Boris Klimchuk said at a press conference, APA reports. He said vandalism against the monument at the Sapun-gora Mountain caused serious protest among the officials and public community of Ukraine. “The Sevastopol city authorities held two meetings on Wednesday to make decision on restoration of the monument and selection of the companies for restoration work. The last restoration work was done in the memorial complex early 1980s”.

The ambassador said full restoration of the monument required $25 000, which is suitable for the government budget and Sevastopol city’s resource fund. Klimchuk said those, who destroyed the monument, were arrested. “Two suspects in the act of vandalism were detained yesterday. The parts of memorial complex were found in the scrap metal station. The investigators’ version that the vandals destroyed the monument to sell its parts as a metal was confirmed”. The Azerbaijan’s embassy in Ukraine submitted a note of protest to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
