A meeting was held at the Ministry of Finance with the delegation led by Ana Brnabić, Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia, APA-Economics reports.
The meeting focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Serbia, implementing joint projects, exploring mutual investment opportunities, and discussing future prospects for cooperation.
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Finance and Co-Chair of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and the Republic of Serbia, Sahil Babayev, emphasizing Azerbaijan’s intention to strengthen strategic partnership with Serbia in all areas noted that interparliamentary relations and the Intergovernmental Commission serve as important platform for the development of bilateral relations.
The minister highlighted that during the 8th session of the Intergovernmental Commission, held in Baku in July of last year, many important initiatives were proposed. The 9th session of the Commission is planned to be held in Belgrade in October of this year.
During the meeting, it was noted that mutual investments between the two countries have increased, and that in 2024, trade turnover grew by 16.7%, reaching USD 190.3 million. It was also emphasized that existing cooperation opportunities in areas such as energy, infrastructure, aviation, agriculture, and cultural-humanitarian sectors open up broad prospects for the implementation of mutually beneficial projects.

O, iki ölkə arasında ticarət-iqtisadi əlaqələrin inkişafında müsbət dinamikanın mövcudluğuna baxmayaraq, mövcud statistik göstəricilərin real potensialı əks etdirmədiyini və siyasi münasibətlərin səviyyəsinə uyğun gəlmədiyini vurğulayıb, əməkdaşlığın daha da genişləndirilməsi üçün böyük imkanların olduğunu diqqətə çatdırıb.
Ms. Brnabić also stated that Azerbaijani investors are interested in investing in Serbia, particularly in real estate, agriculture, and other sectors.
The meeting included an exchange of views on issues of mutual interest.
