Baku - APA-Economics. The International Monetary Fund has approved a new bailout sum for Greece to a tune of 2.2 billion euros. This is a joint IMF and EU aid package aimed to save Athens from bankruptcy, APA reports citing Reuters.

The money is part of an 8 billion euro credit tranche EU-approved in late November. The sixth tranche was previously blocked by the EU and IMF until Greece is in a position to provide assurances regarding coordinated anti-crisis reforms.

Altogether, according to the EU and IMF plan, Greece will receive 110 billion euros, reports the BBC.
