Russiaâ€™s Novaya gazeta apologizes to Azerbaijanâ€™s Finance Ministry

Sergei Kanevâ€™s â€œDeath of Chekistâ€ article was published on the newspaper on July 11, 2011, it contained the incorrect information and it caused protest by the Finance Ministry of Azerbaijan.

The letter sent to the newspaper editorial reads: â€œName of Khalilov Namig Mustafa has also been mentioned in this article, it says as if he is chief of Finance Ministryâ€™s State Insurance Supervision Service. But, in fact, chief of this post is another person â€“ Khalilov Namig Jalil. We think that the mentioned, false information harm the honor and dignity of Khalilov Namig Jalil and reputation of Azerbaijanâ€™s FinMinistry. We apologize to Mr. Khalilov Namig Jalil and make sure that this mistaken was not made purposelyâ€.

Remind that, the article with title â€œAzerbaijani officer is wanted in Russiaâ€ published in â€œAzadligâ€ newspaper on July 14 , 2011, contained the incorrect information about Chief of State Insurance Control Service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Finance Khalilov Namig Jalil: â€œPress service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Finance says that â€œAzadligâ€ newspaper, which quoted to the Russian â€œNovaya gazetaâ€ newspaper, repeated the mistake permitted by the abovementioned newspaper, presented Khalilov Namig Mustafa, who is reported in the article as wanted, as a chief of State Insurance Control Service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Finance and gave a photo of Chief of State Insurance Control Service of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Finance Khalilov Namig Jalil.
