Washington. Isabel Levine - APA. Azerbaijan’s Economic Modernization and the Post-Crisis Era will be discussed in the US capital with participation of Elman Rustamov, Chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan on Match 16th, APA’s Washington DC correspondent reports.

The discussions will be held and organized by the Georgetown University’s Center for Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies.

“Largely driven by oil and gas developments, Azerbaijan’s economy grew fourfold over the last ten years”, say the organizers pointing out that “although Azerbaijan fared relatively well during the global financial crisis, in part thanks to prudent and preventive policies of the Central Bank, the crisis was a test of sustainability for the country’s economic model”.

Mr. Rustamov, chairman of the Central Bank, will share his insights on Azerbaijan’s economy and how the country plans to cope with its primary developmental challenge - transforming its resource wealth into sustainable welfare for current and future generations.

Washington officials and analysts on Azerbaijan, as well as the students, will be participating at the panel.
