â€œAzerbaijan’s economic modernization and the post-crisis eraâ€ to be discussed in Washington

Washington. Isabel Levine - APA. Azerbaijan’s Economic Modernization and the Post-Crisis Era will be discussed in the US capital with participation of Elman Rustamov, Chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan on Match 16th, APAâ€™s Washington DC correspondent reports.

The discussions will be held and organized by the Georgetown Universityâ€™s Center for Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies.

â€œLargely driven by oil and gas developments, Azerbaijan’s economy grew fourfold over the last ten yearsâ€, say the organizers pointing out that â€œalthough Azerbaijan fared relatively well during the global financial crisis, in part thanks to prudent and preventive policies of the Central Bank, the crisis was a test of sustainability for the country’s economic modelâ€.

Mr. Rustamov, chairman of the Central Bank, will share his insights on Azerbaijan’s economy and how the country plans to cope with its primary developmental challenge - transforming its resource wealth into sustainable welfare for current and future generations.

Washington officials and analysts on Azerbaijan, as well as the students, will be participating at the panel.
