Complete with advanced technology to combat counterfeiting, the new design for the $100 note retains the traditional look of U.S. currency. There are a number of security features in the redesigned $100 note, including two new features, the 3-D Security Ribbon and the Bell in the Inkwell. These security features are easy for consumers and merchants to use to authenticate their currency. The blue 3-D Security Ribbon on the front of the new $100 note contains images of bells and 100s that move and change from one to the other as you tilt the note. The Bell in the Inkwell on the front of the note is another new security feature. The bell changes color from copper to green when the note is tilted, an effect that makes it seem to appear and disappear within the copper inkwell. In addition to design changes introduced in 1995, the obverse features the brown quill that was used to sign the Declaration of Independence; faint phrases from the Declaration of Independence; a bell in the inkwell that appears and disappears depending on the angle at which the bill is viewed; teal background color; a borderless portrait of Benjamin Franklin; and to the left of Franklin, small yellow 100s whose zeros form the EURion constellation. The reverse features small yellow EURion 100s and has the fine lines removed from around the vignette of Independence Hall.
10 years have been spent for designing of security elements, said Michael Lambert, Assistant Director for Cash at the Federal Reserve Board and added that it will be most secured banknote in the world because of new technologies.
The new bill was embedded with one million of micro lenses to create moving images. The issuing of new banknote will be three cents expensive than previous one. The US citizens are not using 100-dollar bill frequently and 5- 20-dollar bills are the most popular in the US.
The dollar bills are counterfeited mostly outside the United States. There are one trillion dollars of cash in circulation in the world. According to approximate statistics 0.01% of this money is counterfeit. Half of all dollar resources are used outside the United States.
