Former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan should be arrested, Newsarmenia reports.
Speaking at a briefing, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the country's judicial system is in urgent need of serious reforms and stated that the second president, Robert Kocharyan, should be arrested.
According to him, citizens ask him on the streets why Robert Kocharyan is still free.
"There is a separation of powers. The legislative and executive branches cannot assume the functions of the judiciary. I cannot imagine these decisions being made without a new Constitution. The institution of trial by jury should be introduced. All current judges must undergo a comprehensive integrity review," Pashinyan said.
The prime minister noted that wealthy individuals are able to resolve their problems under the current justice system.
According to Pashinyan, due to constitutional regulations, the justice system has become the "most unsuccessful area" of state governance.
"There cannot be an oligarchic judicial system in Armenia. I will fight against it every day by all means. Robert Kocharyan should be in prison. Why do I say this? Because the people told me so and gave me this mandate."
He stressed that he was not referring only to Robert Kocharyan.
"They will all be arrested," Pashinyan added.
