Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov met with the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Road Safety, Jean Todt, who is visiting the country, APA reports.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the existing cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and the United Nations, issues of international cooperation in the field of road safety, as well as global initiatives in this area.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov provided information on the consistent reforms being implemented by Azerbaijan to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, develop a safe, sustainable, and modern transport system, and ensure road traffic safety. In this context, he highlighted the modernization of transport infrastructure, the implementation of digital solutions, and efforts to strengthen road traffic safety. The Minister also noted that high-standard road and infrastructure projects are being carried out throughout the country, particularly in the liberated territories.
Jean Todt provided information on the activities carried out in his capacity as the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy, measures aimed at preventing road traffic accidents, and efforts to strengthen international cooperation in this field. He highly praised Azerbaijan's measures and progress in the field of road safety and emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation in this direction.
The meeting also included discussions on other issues of mutual interest.
