Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he held a telephone conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron, during which the sides discussed key security issues concerning Ukraine and Europe, APA reports.

In a post on X, Zelenskyy said the discussion focused in particular on the situation in Ukraine, the country’s defense needs, and the consequences of Russia’s massive strike overnight, as well as developments on the frontline.

The Ukrainian leader noted that Ukrainian forces have achieved tangible results this winter and have managed to hold all key defense lines.

Zelenskyy also stressed the importance of implementing joint European agreements on €90 billion in support for Ukraine over the next two years, along with a new sanctions package against Russia.

According to him, the conversation also covered developments in the Middle East and the Gulf region, including the situation around Iran.

Zelenskyy added that Macron supported Ukraine’s efforts to enhance regional security, noting that Ukraine has gained significant experience in defending against Iranian-made “Shahed” drones, which could contribute to building a more effective collective security system with partners.
