Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has instructed his team to organize a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Geneva, APA reports, citing Axios.
According to the report, Zelensky believes that the best way to make progress on the territorial issue is to meet Putin face to face.
Zelensky is reportedly ready to discuss the issue of troop withdrawal. However, he called on Moscow to withdraw troops to the same distance and rejected Russia's claims of sovereignty over the zone.
The president also expressed his views on holding elections in Ukraine. He said that the elections could be held during an unstable ceasefire and left open the possibility of nominating himself for this post.
"It will depend on the people. Let's see what they want," Zelensky added.
