Baku – APA. Some 161 people were killed and 1,400 others were injured during the July 15 military coup attempt in Turkey, the country’s Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said at a press conference in Ankara July 16.
He noted that so far the police have arrested 2,839 servicemen involved in the coup attempt.
The coup attempt put a black mark in the history of Turkey, noted the PM.
“I would like to express my gratitude to every citizen who came out on streets to resist terrorism,” said Yildirim. “July 15 has written in the history as democracy day of Turkey.”
Turkey has managed to overcome big trouble, he stressed.
“May Allah have mercy upon all of those who lost their lives by standing in front of tanks on streets. I thank the friendly countries for their support to Turkey,” Yildirim added.
