Baku – APA. Turkey's Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım said on Monday that a total of 208 people were killed by coup attempting soldiers, of which 60 were police officers, three were soldiers and 145 were civilians. Some 1491 people were also wounded, the Turkish NTV channel reported.
Yildirim said the command of the army continues to fulfill its duties.
“The situation is under control. Both military and police officers continue to perform their duties day and night. The parliament will resume its work yesterday,” said the PM.
He noted that over 7,500 suspects have been detained in relation to the coup attempt, and added that the numbers could increase.
The prime minister stressed that everyone in Turkey knows who is behind these events.
“Although the so-called Imam of the Universe [referring to Fethullah Gülen] says that “they are not involved in the coup attempt, it’s a game of the government”, the whole world knows the truth.
Yildirim also urged people not to treat negatively to the country’s army.
