Report: Prosecutors to ask Parliament to lift immunity of four ministers in corruption probe

Baku-APA. Istanbul prosecutors who are overseeing a major probe into alleged bribery linked to public tenders, will ask Turkish Parliament to lift four ministers on charges of corruption, bribery and forgery of documents, a Turkish media outlet reported on Tuesday, APA reports quoting Today's Zaman.

Kanal D said Ä°stanbul prosecutor Celal Kara will send an official request to Parliament to lift immunity of four ministers in order to lay out legal basis of the investigation given the fact that ministers can't be summoned as part of the probe without lifting their immunity.

Ä°stanbul prosecutors Zekeriya Öz and Celal Kara extended the scope of the investigation and considering to include ministers into the probe in the face of strong suspicion.

Sons of three ministers are currently among detainees in the investigation into alleged bribery linked to public tenders.
