Baku-APA. One of two Greeks fears Angela Merkel's reelection at the upcoming German elections on Sunday, according to an opinion survey released Friday in Athens, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Some 47 percent of respondents in the poll conducted by Public Issue said that Merkel's victory would have a negative impact on Greece's efforts to address its debt crisis with international creditors' assistance.

Only 10 percent of respondents believed something positive would come out of such a result, while 34 percent expect neither positive nor negative repercussions for Greece.

A staunch proponent of austerity policies to address the Greek and European financial crisis, Merkel has not won several fans among recession-hit Greeks. Eight out of 10 Greeks today hold a negative view of the German leader.

Due to the chancellor's economic policies, about 75 percent of respondents had a negative opinion of Germany.
