Georgian Foreign Minister: “Russia continues strengthening divisive policy”

Touching on the importance of solving the conflicts in OSCE area, Maia Panjikidze underlined that the problems must be solved peacefully basing on the already adopted documents. She expressed regret that the ministers failed to agree on the text of the Declaration on the political course. Minister reiterated that Georgia will move towards European integration.


“We are sure that next year will bring us closer to the European Union. The Georgian people have not retreated from European integration,” she said.


Maia Panjikidze said Georgia is going to sign association agreement with the EU in 2014.


Touching on the relations with Russia, Minister said though economic and cultural relations are gradually improving, Russia continues strengthening divisive policy. Boundaries are built in the occupied Georgian territories. Panjikidze called on Russia to abide by the agreement signed on August 12, 2008, stop violating the rights of the people creating artificial obstacles.
