Two Iranian citizens suspected of drug trafficking have been detained in Georgia.
The Iranian citizens were detained while attempting to illegally cross the border checkpoint "Sinig Korpu" between Georgia and Azerbaijan, the Georgian Interior Ministry said in a statement on Friday.
More than 700gr of heroin were found in 13 packages on the Iranian citizens. The suspects are looking at a sentence of 8 to 20 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
During the first seven months of 2018, 98 drug traffickers were detained in Georgia with 15kg of confiscated heroin, 7,191 psychotropic drugs, and 1kg 400gr of cocaine and other drugs.
