The European Union and Turkey have resumed talks on EU membership after 3-year hiatus, said EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Štefan Füle, APA reports. “The parties will start discussions on the 14th chapter “Regional policy and coordination of structural instruments”. Turkey has been and remains an important partner for the EU. I hope that we will not have to wait as much to open another chapter in the talks,” said the EU commissioner.”
Štefan Füle said that on November 7-8, he will pay a visit to Turkey to negotiate in this regard.
The EU and Turkey started discussions on October 3, 2005. Totally 13 out of 33 chapters have been opened for discussions.
