Baku-APA. Denmark's foreign minister Villy Soevndal resigned on Wednesday for health reasons, said a statement by the foreign ministry, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
The 61-year-old has been on sick leave since October. He made the decision as doctors have advised him to do so, it said.
Holger K. Nielsen, the former leader of his Socialist People's Party, will take over as the new foreign minister.
Soevndal himself had also been a former chairman of the Socialist People's Party, a junior partner in the government coalition.
