Baku-APA. Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Deputy Hakan Åžükür, former captain of Galatasaray and the Turkish national team, resigned from his party, revealing underlying intra-party squabbles due to controversial policies of the AK Party government on a number of areas, APA reports quoting Today’s Zaman.

The resignation came after Åžükür expressed his objection to government proposal to shut down prep schools, which help students for university and high school admission exams.

Åžükür publicly raised his opposition, saying that the proposal was timingly wrong and would likely create more problems in the education system rather than removing current inadequacies.
