Baku. Turbat Baghirova-APA. France’s national holiday – the Bastille Day was marked in Baku, APA reports.
The reception began with the sound of the national anthems of the two states.
Speaking at the reception, the Ambassador of France to Azerbaijan Aurelia Bouchez noted that France is cooperating with Azerbaijan, both in the bilateral format and within the framework of the Minsk Group on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Ambassador, noting that the bilateral contacts between France and Azerbaijan are intense, stressed the willingness of France to organize a meeting of presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia.
“Our cooperation in the economic sector develops and reflects the priorities of Azerbaijan. The diversification of the Azerbaijani economy, French companies have played a leading role”, said the ambassador.
According to Bouchez, and cultural ties between the two countries are also at a high level: “France highly appreciates Azerbaijan's commitment to the cultural, religious tolerance and secularism. I express my gratitude to the people of Azerbaijan for support in connection with the terrorist attacks in Paris”.
Ambassador of France to Azerbaijan, recalling the opening of the French University in Baku, expressed satisfaction with the presence of 500 French teachers in Azerbaijan.
The next speaker, the deputy minister of economy of Azerbaijan Sahil Babayev said that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to its relations with France.
S. Babayev noted that between 13 Azerbaijani cities and 12 settlements (11 cities and 1 region) signed an agreement on twinning “agreement has been reached on the establishment of the Inter-regional Council for strengthening ties in this area”.
Sahil Babayev also praised France's efforts to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and expressed the hope that these efforts will lead to a fair result.
