The conflict in Ukraine puts 1.7 billion people at risk of poverty, said António Guterres UN Secretary-General, APA reports citing Izvestia newspaper.
"The military conflict in Ukraine hinders the global export of agricultural products and energy resources, leads to a sharp rise in the subsistence level, which is the most negative consequences for ordinary citizens," said Secretary-General.
According to Guterres, in order to overcome the crisis, rich countries should provide financial assistance to poor countries. This will ensure a fair distribution of funds among the inhabitants of the planet.
