The Security Service of Ukraine announced suspicions regarding a serviceman of the Ukrainian Armed Forces recruited by Russian security services and his accomplice, who were involved in an explosion near the SBU building in Kyiv on February 11, APA reports, citing mezha.net.

According to case materials, both suspects were detained within a day after the incident on one of Kyiv’s central streets.

According to investigators, they initially planned to blow up one of the SBU facilities, and then carried out the act by detonating a vehicle.

According to the investigation, a 47-year-old serviceman of the Russian armed forces, acting on a Russian order, left his post in the Sumy region of Ukraine on his own accord and later hid in western Ukraine.

Under the supervisor’s instruction, he recruited a 29-year-old Kyiv resident who posed as an employee of Ukrainian security services and tasked him with creating a homemade explosive device with remote control.

Also, the Russian sponsors, through front persons, purchased a used van and ordered its conversion into an ambulance to transport wounded Ukrainian soldiers. In the cabin they installed oxygen and gas cylinders and equipped it with a webcam with remote access, which was used by Russian security services.

In fact, the gas cylinder equipment was intended to amplify the explosive effect, and the Russians monitored the van’s parking via a video camera during the planned terrorist act.

After manufacturing the homemade device, the suspects placed it in the cabin and quickly left the location. The Russians then detonated the vehicle remotely.
