Ukraine aims to expand the maritime coalition, inviting Türkiye to join the initiative, according to the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, APA reports citing News Ukraine.
Defense Minister Rustem Umerov held a meeting with the new Turkish Ambassador to Ukraine, Levent Bilgen. Umerov invited Türkiye to join the maritime coalition to strengthen security in the Black Sea.
"We are grateful to Türkiye for supporting Ukraine from the first day of the full-scale invasion in ensuring the security of the Black Sea. We invite Türkiye to join the maritime coalition," said the minister.
The Ukrainian and Turkish sides also discussed potential cooperation in defense production.
The new Turkish ambassador said that his country would continue comprehensive support for Ukraine.
