"It would not be right for us to purchase F-16s under the conditions. We should not have hands tied when purchasing these aircraft," said Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavuşoğlu at a joint press conference with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, who is on a visit to Ankara, APA reports.

He said the US should return the payment of 1.4 billion dollars to Türkiye.

"As for the F-35 program, we paid for cooperation in this program. However, our country is not involved in this program, and it was not our decision. It was a unilateral decision. Therefore, it is our natural right to expect the return of the 1.4 billion dollars we paid for this program," Çavuşoğlu stated.
