Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó, on his X social network, has stated that his country will block the 20th package of sanctions against Russia, APA reports.
“At tomorrow’s meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, the adoption of the 20th sanctions package against Russia is planned. Hungary will block it,” Szijjártó wrote.
According to the minister, until Ukraine restores oil transit to Hungary and Slovakia via the Druzhba oil pipeline, Budapest will not allow the adoption of important decisions for Kyiv.
It should be noted that earlier Volodymyr Omelchenko, Director of Energy Programs at the Razumkov Center, explained the situation surrounding the Druzhba oil pipeline. According to him, it may be linked to corruption factors and the interests of certain major players in the market.
“Under no circumstances should Ukraine resume oil supplies through the Druzhba oil pipeline. By doing so, we allow the enemy to earn revenue. In fact, during the war we have already enabled the Russians to earn 20 billion euros. This is where geopolitics and economics intersect,” Omelchenko said.
