NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that he expects Sweden and Finland to officially become NATO members in 2023, APA reports citing Breakingthenews.
In an interview with German DPA published on Monday, Stoltenberg said he doesn't know the exact date but that he was "absolutely confident that the ratification process will be finalized in a timely manner."
Stoltenberg went on to add that he doesn't believe Turkey will continue to block Sweden and Finland's path to membership after Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu criticized the two nations for not doing more to extradite suspected terrorists to Turkey.
