Demonstrations are currently being held in several Italian cities, with hundreds of soldiers deployed in Milan after last weekend's protests turned violent and protesters demolished and looted multiple luxury stores in the city, APA reports.
In Milan, several groups of protesters are trying to reach the city center, but numerous law enforcement officers are preventing them from doing so.
Meanwhile, some 2,000 people gathered in Florence to protest the high cost of living, and a group of demonstrators attempted to reach Via Tornabuoni, a well-known luxury shopping street, but was stopped by riot police. Tensions between demonstrators and police also escalated in Rome when a small group of demonstrators entered the Colosseum. In Bologna, police deployed water cannons after protesters threw bottles at them.
