UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed a desire to resume previously failed negotiations on Britain's access to the EU's Security Action for Europe (SAFE) defense fund, APA reports citing The Times.
"We need to be more engaged and do more. It's not just President [of the United States] Donald Trump who thinks Europe should do more – other leaders do too. I think so too. I do believe that in terms of spending, capacity, and cooperation, we need to do more together. I've made my point, and that means we need to look at mechanisms like SAFE and others to see if there's an opportunity to work more closely together," The Times newspaper quotes the British prime minister as saying .
Starmer expressed hope that "some progress" would be made on the issue of "closer cooperation" with the EU.
