Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has published an open letter addressed to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, APA reports.

The letter, shared on Orbán’s official “X” account, sharply criticizes Kyiv’s policies and calls for the immediate reopening of the Druzhba (Friendship) oil pipeline.

In the letter dated February 26, 2026, Orbán accuses Zelenskyy of attempting for four years to pressure Hungary into joining the Russia–Ukraine war and alleges coordination between Ukraine, Brussels and the Hungarian opposition to bring a pro-Ukraine government to power in Hungary.

The Hungarian prime minister claims that Ukraine recently blocked the Friendship oil pipeline, which he described as critical to Hungary’s energy supply. He said such actions run counter to Hungary’s national interests and threaten the secure and affordable energy supply of Hungarian families.

Orbán emphasized that Hungary does not bear responsibility for the situation in Ukraine and reiterated that Budapest does not wish to participate in the war, finance military efforts or pay higher energy prices.

“I urge you to immediately reopen the Friendship oil pipeline and refrain from any further attacks on Hungary’s energy security. More respect for Hungary,” Orbán wrote.
