Hungary opposes the idea of Ukraine maintaining an 800,000-strong army after reaching peace with Russia, Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán has said, APA reports.

Orbán stated that it would be in Hungary’s interest for Ukraine’s armed forces to be as small as possible.

“I believe it is in our interest for the Ukrainian army to be as small as possible,” he said in an interview with the “Patriota” YouTube channel.

The prime minister added that ensuring regional stability requires taking the balance of security into account.
