The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said on Friday that talks on establishing a security zone around the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine are "making headway" and expressed hope the measure will be implemented "soon.", APA reports citing Teletrader.
Grossi made the remarks following his trip to Moscow for discussions regarding the plant, which is under Russian occupation. "As we have experienced several times before during the war in Ukraine, the situation can take a sudden and dramatic turn for the worse at any moment. The plant is located on an active frontline in the middle of a large-scale war. The situation remains extremely precarious and potentially dangerous, and the protection zone remains urgently needed," Grossi insisted.
