Peace and stability in the South Caucasus have always been a priority for Türkiye, Fuat Oktay, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (GNAT), said at the 10th trilateral meeting of the foreign affairs committees of the parliaments of Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Georgia, APA reports.
He stated that his country fully supports the Azerbaijan–Armenia normalization process.
“We consider the recent steps taken by Baku and Yerevan as confidence-building measures,” Oktay noted.
The Turkish official emphasized that the TRIPP project will be beneficial for the entire region, including Georgia.
“Türkiye continues the normalization process with Armenia. The normalization between Türkiye and Armenia, as well as between Azerbaijan and Armenia, will contribute to strengthening peace and stability in the region. Georgia’s coordination and contribution to dialogue here are very valuable,” Fuat Oktay said.
He added that cooperation in the energy sector among Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and Georgia could be further expanded.
