"Some politicians from certain post-Soviet countries, especially those from the Baltic states, want to play the role of "big brother" in relation to Georgia, but this will not happen. We are not planning to join the European Union under these rules," Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, said during his appearance on the "Imedi" TV channel., APA’s Tbilisi correspondent reports.

"We saw direct foreign funding during the election campaign. On October 20, a large rally organized by non-governmental organizations against the ‘Georgian Dream’ was funded, among others, by the European Union. What kind of behavior is this? Is there anything European in this? What does the money spent on that action have to do with Europe, its values, or our efforts? Among the people we saw, there are also politicians whose past is linked to ‘perestroika.’ Even Mrs. Rasa has been involved in politics since the Gorbachev era, talks about values, and we see some post-Soviet politicians, especially from the Baltic countries, who, I think, have closely observed how Moscow played the ‘big brother’ role and now want to play that role themselves. This will not happen. We are not going to learn from people involved in political corruption," Papuashvili stated.
