The European Commission’s report is unfair and reflects double standards, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists, APA’s local bureau reports.
According to him, Georgia will wait for changes in the situation within the European Union and in the approach of European bureaucrats.
“We want to become a member of the European Union by 2030, and we hope that by that time, the situation within the European Union will have changed fundamentally. Today, the activity of European bureaucracy has fallen to the level of Soviet standards, which is very regrettable,” the Prime Minister added.
Note that in the European Commission’s report on enlargement released yesterday, the Georgian government was sharply criticized. It was stated that there is serious democratic backsliding in Georgia, and the country’s accession process to the European Union has been practically suspended.
Recall that on November 28 of last year, the Georgian government announced that it would not bring the issue of EU accession negotiations to the agenda until 2028.
