Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine’s Defense Forces carried out what he described as a “unique operation” targeting the Russian naval base in Novorossiysk, APA reports.
Zelenskyy said on X that the operation was conducted last night against what he called “the last major stronghold of the Russian fleet in the Black Sea,” located more than 300 kilometers from the front line.
According to him, Ukrainian forces used Palianytsia jet-powered drones, Neptune missiles and unmanned naval systems in the attack.
“Hits on air defense positions, piers, and seaport infrastructure have been confirmed,” Zelenskyy said.
He thanked the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine and the country’s intelligence agencies for the operation.
“The occupation fleet and all the infrastructure supporting it will not be safe as long as Russian aggression continues. The war must be stopped, and all reasonable proposals for diplomacy are on the table,” Zelenskyy added.
