US President Donald Trump has said the situation regarding Iran is developing normally, while claiming that the United States military has full control of the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews near Washington, Trump praised the US Navy and said no other country currently controls the strategic waterway.
“Everything with Iran is fine — completely normal. We have total control of the Strait of Hormuz. We run it; nobody else does, only us. Our Navy is incredible, and things are going well in our country,” Trump said.
The US president also stressed that he does not trust Tehran, accusing Iran of having deceived him on multiple occasions.
“I am the last person who would trust Iran; they have deceived me many times. Right now, we have total control of the Strait of Hormuz, and they do not control it,” Trump said.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most strategically important maritime routes and a key transit point for global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments.
