The indictment in the criminal case against Ekrem İmamoğlu, the former Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality who is currently imprisoned, has been completed, APA’s Türkiye bureau reports.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has concluded that a criminal organization led by İmamoğlu existed.
The indictment demands that İmamoğlu be held accountable for 142 different offenses and sentenced to a total of 2,352 years in prison.
The 3,900-page document also mentions the names of several well-known individuals. It is reported that statements were taken from a total of 402 people as suspects in the case.
The prosecution claims that during İmamoğlu’s tenure, the state suffered financial damage amounting to approximately 160 billion liras over a 10-year period.
